UST Global has built an integrated software application based on a client/server
model. Hundreds of gigabytes of audio-visual feeds from trackside and on-car
cameras, vital data such as timing feeds, and GPS positioning of the Marussia
Virgin Racing cars relative to their competition and external weather
information are streamed to an integrated dashboard display where they are
presented clearly, either in real-time or on-demand.
The application is used during the Formula One race weekend by the race
engineers who monitor the real time data received in the dashboard panel to plot
car movements and positions. All the data from the GPS server and the video
feeds is processed within 100 ms for accurate results, and the processed data is
stored on the server for review sessions. Race engineers then analyze the data
and make informed decisions on race strategy for the drivers.
